FUESD Schools Kick Off Red Ribbon Week

Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) is excited to kick off Red Ribbon Week, a vibrant, week-long celebration dedicated to promoting healthy choices, kindness, and school unity. Running from October 23rd through October 31st, this initiative is packed with various events designed to encourage students to make positive decisions and embrace a healthy lifestyle. The district is eager to bring students, families, and staff together in this shared mission.

In the lead-up to Red Ribbon Week, FUESD schools marked Unity Day on October 16th with activities centered around unity, kindness, and anti-bullying. The day was filled with excitement as students and staff participated in unity-themed events that fostered a sense of togetherness and reinforced the district’s commitment to inclusion and kindness.

As Red Ribbon Week progresses, FUESD schools will host a variety of fun and meaningful events that highlight the week’s themes. These activities include themed dress-up days, allowing students to express themselves while focusing on healthy living and making wise choices. Additionally, several campuses will host special “Lunch on the Lawn” gatherings, where parents and families are invited to enjoy outdoor picnics with their children. These events offer a wonderful opportunity to strengthen family bonds, share positive messages of health and wellness, and build a strong sense of community.

“Red Ribbon Week is a fantastic opportunity to unite our district around the crucial themes of healthy choices, kindness, and community,” said Seth Trench, Director of Communications. “Unity Day set the stage perfectly, and we’re eager to keep the momentum going with Red Ribbon Week, encouraging our students to make positive life choices and engage with the wider community.”

Red Ribbon Week began in 1985 in honor of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty while fighting drug trafficking. The week has since evolved into a nationwide effort to raise awareness about the importance of a drug-free lifestyle and making responsible decisions. FUESD is proud to play an active role in this movement, using the week to highlight the district’s core values of inclusion, kindness, health, and community spirit.
